I'm John Black, a Scottish Assistant Editor and DIT Assistant.

I started out as an Assistant Editor and DI Lab Technician, working with various post houses across the UK, from Blazing Griffin in Glasgow, to Clear-Cut Pictures in London, developing a deep understanding of post-production workflows, and providing assistance and support to many different projects.

More recently I've moved on set as a DIT Assistant, applying that same technical discipline to the front end of the process. Having worked both ends of the pipeline gives me a clear sense of what editors and labs actually need from a DIT, and I bring that awareness to every set I work on.

I'm full UK driving licence holder, with bases in London, Glasgow and Bristol. I’m always looking for the next opportunity to put these skills to work.
